Health & Fitness Event Mixup

Just wanted to take a moment to apologize to anyone that may have gotten lost in the confusion at Sunday's Health & Fitness Event. We discovered that there are two Papago Park locations (one in Phoenix & one in Tempe). Our troop was told to meet at Phoenix Papago Park, but the actual event was held at the Tempe Papago Park. I waited at our designated meeting place (the Galvin Pkwy parking lot at the trailhead) until a few minutes to 1pm, but didn't see anyone else. I received a call from one of the other participating troop leaders, and she informed me of the mixup in locations. Girl Scouts Health & Fitness Field Day

Hi everyone! Just wanted to send out a quick reminder about the Girl Scout
Health & Fitness Field Day this Sunday, 10/18/09 from 1pm-3pm at Papago Park.
Miss Sherry has already paid for each girl's entry to the event out of troop
funds. Let's meet in the parking lot located off Galvin Parkway, right across
from the zoo, about 10-15 minutes early. That way we can all go in together. It
will be warm this weekend, so the girls should dress appropriately. They should
wear comfortable shoes (sneakers) and sunscreen. They also need to bring a water
bottle and a snack. Our Brownies will be earning their Girl Sports, My Body and
Sports & Games Try-Its. The Juniors will earn their Be Healthy Be Fit, Field
Sports, Fun & Fit and A Healthier You badges. Please let us know if your daughter needs transportation to this event and we will try and work something out. If you are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Girl Scouts Founder Juliette Low's birthday on October 31st. Let's get the girls to start brainstorming on some possible celebration ideas. Ice Scream Social? Juliette Low Trivia Game? Juliette Low Bingo? The Girl Scouts website and both the Brownie and Junior Handbooks provide complete bio information on our beloved founder, and it would be fun and challenging to test the girls' knowledge.

Girls Against Hunger

Our Girls Against Hunger community service project is in full swing! We have between October 8th and October 22nd to pass out our collection flyers. It is helpful if you tape or glue your information card to a paper shopping bag (remember our commmitment to "go green" - no plastic shopping bags!). This gives neighbors a place to store their donated items and puts the food drive information conveniently on display. Please contact Miss Sherry or Miss Harmony if you have any questions.
